The historic Roman theatrical costume designers, G.P.11, has enjoyed worldwide renown for the best part of a century.  It is a modern organization devoted entirely to the production of costumes, for sale and hire, destined for film, theatre and television; the company is not only the market leader within its sector but also represents a treasure trove literally overflowing with artistic gems, both large and small, of contemporary costume.

It all started with the teaming up of two performing artists who, thanks to their immense talent and shared passion for the art world, succeeded in making G.P.11 a landmark for the creation and realization of splendid costumes which have adorned the most famous stages of Italy and beyond.

Their children and artistic heirs, Gabriele and Silvana, are company directors and now run the business, both fuelled with the same creative talents and united by their love of sartorial art.

Gabriele and Silvana, acclaimed for the superior quality of their handcrafted articles and their exquisitely tailored items of clothing, have for years worked alongside some of the most famous costume designers of national and international renown, creating costumes for film, stage and television artists in Italy and abroad, bringing further prestige to the widely acknowledged quality of Italian production.

Over the years, their tireless work has led to the creation of a most valuable and highly prized warehouse of theatrical costumes, covering an area of 2,500 square metres, which is open to visitors for guided tours conducted by the staff or can even be visited online in a virtual tour. Indeed, whilst retaining intact the very essence of an artisan workshop, G.P.11 has of course kept up with the times and is nowadays fully equipped with the most cutting-edge forms of industrial and computing technology.

In almost one hundred years of company activity and as a result of the boundless enthusiasm of its owners, G.P.11 has collected and jealously guards a range of artistic treasures, including:

The original costumes from cult films, such as “Two Women” (La Ciociara), “Fifa e Arena” , “Brancaleone” and more besides.

Costumes from the world of opera and theatre, such as “Rigoletto”, “La Traviata”, “Don Carlo”, “Così fan tutte”, “La Centaura” (for which Gabriele Mayer was awarded the ETI award for the best costumes).

Costumes from famous musicals such as “Rugantino”, “Singin’ in the Rain” and “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”.

Original items of clothing, not costumes, either owned or worn by actors, actresses and celebrities not necessarily belonging to the world of showbusiness but famed for their sartorial elegance.

Original preliminary sketches of costumes designed and made by the company, forming a collection of authentic works of art which we are extremely proud to have in our possession.

A collection of hundreds of fashion magazines, all of them original, carefully collected from the early twentieth century up until the present day.
